Until ALF (aquatic live food) entered the aquarium market the live food and culturing market had not seen change for over 20 years. The American brine shrimp (sea monkeys) was the only live food and the only eggs available to hatch yourself at home.
ALF has changed all that with the introduction of Aussie daphnia eggs, Rotifer eggs (FW), Clam shrimp eggs, Aussie fairy shrimp eggs, Triops australianas eggs, Daphnia monia eggs and shortly we will be releasing an Australian first to our range, marine copepod and rotifer eggs onto the world aquarium market place.
General
We at Aquatic Live Food (ALF) have carefully put together with each specific species in mind, the best options to enable you to hatch and grow your favourite critters from eggs. If you follow the setup, care and maintenance suggestions, you will be successful.
Things you MUST do:
Always wear clean disposable gloves when setting up the habitats.
Ensure all equipment you will be using is clean and sterile.
Only use chlorine free freshwater when/ where required
Only use sterilised seawater or saltwater made from R.O and marine salt
Try not use old equipment like airlines, air stones, gravel etc, unless cleaned & sterilised
Why are we so fanatical about keeping it clean?
Contamination of/in aquarium water is the most common reason for aquarium issues, be it freshwater or more so marine. The majority of issues are due to NOT USING QUARENTEEN TANKS. The next major issue water quality (lack of) followed by ?? feeding (overfeeding) fish to their death (fouling the water quality).
Tip:
Small amounts regularly, in general a hungry fish is a healthy fish. Not starving your mandarin fish, due to no copepods.
We here at ALF are aware many aquarists hate spending money on things they can make themselves, this is fine as long as the end product is clean and fit for purpose.
We are consistently searching and trialling products, processes, systems and critters to provide you with the proven quality that many thousands of you have come to expect from us.
